Arriving at school

The pedestrian gates into the playground on Masterman Road are open between 8.30 and 9.00am in the morning and between 3.00 - 3.30pm in the afternoon.
Entrance is also via the park gate in Brampton Park which is open from 8.30am and closes at 9.00am in the morning and from 3.00 - 3.30pm in the afternoon. If you come to the school outside these times, you will need to use the main entrance on Brampton Road.
At the start of the school day, children are expected to arrive by 8.55am and line up with the rest of their class until they are taken into school by their teacher. You should make sure that your child arrives on time for the beginning of school. You should also make sure that you are on time to collect your child at the end of the day. If you are delayed, please call the office – children can become very distressed if they are not collected on time.

Brampton Primary School Uniform

At Brampton we believe that the wearing of a school uniform contributes to the children’s sense of belonging to the school community and makes life a lot easier for parents trying to get children ready for school.

Pupils at Brampton Primary School are encouraged to take pride in their general appearance and acceptance of a place for your child assumes that you will support the school’s policy.  We expect that all children will be wearing the correct school uniform when they arrive at school in the mornings.

Parents’ coffee morning

Parents’ coffee morning happens every second Thursday from 9.00am to 10.00am in the parents’ room.

Attendance, absence and punctuality

Your child is expected to attend school every day unless they are ill or have a medical appointment. If your child is absent from school, please let us know the reason by phoning the school, writing a note or telling your child’s teacher. If you do not let us know, you will be contacted by the school and if there are any extra concerns, you may be visited by our Education Welfare Officer. We may also ask her to visit you if you give unsatisfactory reasons for absence, if your child is absent a great deal, or if your child is persistently late.

Holidays during the school term

The school does not authorise holidays during term time. If you wish to take your child out of school for any period of time, please ask for a leave of absence request form at the school office and return it once completed. All absence requests are looked at by the Headteacher who will use his discretion to decide whether to authorise or not based on the circumstances. If your child is in either Year 2 or Year 6, when children undergo national tests, we will not authorise any absence requests unless the circumstances are exceptional.
